Working under the supervision of the Senior Supervisor, the Employment Specialist for the Acquired Brain Injury program develops, implements, and adapts individualized training plans with the clients in order to improve their success in employment. In addition, the Employment Specialist provides job development services and supports to program participants and their employers in order to support the long-term success of workers in their jobs. Duties include:
-Developing, implementing, adapting, and monitoring individualized training plans
-Identifying appropriate work placements or job opportunities that match a client's interests and skills
-Performing workplace assessments as necessary to obtain details about the work environment, specific tasks, and physical demands
-Providing on-going support to participants and employers as required to help maintain employment
-Scheduling job coach support as needed including giving direction to Mentors and supervising any Mentor interventions in the workplace
-Promoting the program to other service providers and potential participants
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional designation in the Human Services or Rehabilitation fields
-Two to three years of experience in the human services or related field
-Experience working with individuals with an acquired brain injury would be considered an asset.
-Knowledge and understanding of the issues pertaining to education, training, and employment of people with disabilities.
-Word processing and computer skills (Microsoft software)
-Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with participants, employers, referral agents, colleagues, and public
-Valid driver's licence and use of a personal vehicle
