Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of leadership role in the mining industry
Minimum of 5 years of operations and/or maintenance experience
Skills and Abilities:
Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and understand the interrelations within an industrial facility
Responsibilities:
Ensuring the Refinery project portfolio is executed safely, with exceptional fiscal stewardship, and on scope-schedule-budget
Oversee the work of junior engineers and proactively managing their progression and professional development
Working in partnership with the Mining Area Engineering Superintendent to manage auxiliary project/engineering resources (admin, planning, scheduling, stores / expediting, drafting, embedded contractor labour) are deployed as efficiently and effectively as possible
Become a subject matter expert on the Refinery production process
Ensure timely, efficient, and effective collection of project data: daily reports, LEMS, etc.
Work collaboratively with dotted line support functions such as procurement, project controls, and EH&S
Ensure Capital Management and Site Stakeholders are apprised of project issues and their potential solutions
Liaise with operations to coordinate project and production schedules as best as possible
Ensure timely and comprehensive commissioning of capital projects
Set appropriate commissioning expectations
Act as mediator between operations, project execution staff, engineering and contractors in the event of any dispute or claim. Along with project manager, oversee and drive the claims resolution process
Ensure contractor performance via tools such as post-job evaluations, kick-off meetings, etc.
Coordinate first response to safety incidents including any incident reporting
Participate in PBU Capital management activities and liaise with PBU staff (i.e. Commissioning) as required
Function as project manager or engineer when required
