***THIS IS DESIGNATED FOR ABORIGINAL AND/OR FIRST NATIONS***

Under the direction of the NCO i/c Central Programs and Victim Services Coordinator, assists primarily Aboriginal victims of crime and their families by providing information, support and referrals and addressing community concerns within the Justice system on behalf of Aboriginal victims of crime.
(1)    Provides victims of crime and traumatic events with emotional support, information and practical assistance and referral to community resources.  This may be through telephone contact, out of office visits, or walk in inquiries.
(2)    Provides early intervention/preventative services to Aboriginal victims of crime and their families and assistance to victims on case, police and justice system procedures.
(3)    Submits reports as required and attends meetings hosted by Sask Justice when feasible.
(4)    Implements a community awareness program regarding Aboriginal Resource Officers and Victim Services through exposure, public speaking and community education, and participates on internal and external boards and committees when requested.
(5)    Provides advice and assistance to Police on cases involving Aboriginal people and provides outreach services to Aboriginal people to encourage participation as volunteers for the Victim Services program.
(6)    Assist with crime prevention programs targeted toward Aboriginal youth and adults.
(7)    Assists Cultural Relations Unit and the Community Programs Section to maintain and encourage communication between the Police, community agencies and Victim Services.
(8)     Other related duties as assigned.
