Description

The SGC is seeking a maternity/parental leave replacement for the position of Executive Director to work with its volunteer provincial board to promote and realize the mandate of the SGC.  ED reports directly to the president and is guided in the daily administrative responsibilities by policies and guidelines established by the SGC Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in the development and implementation of relevant programs and services as set out by the board;
Show initiative in starting new programs and developing ideas to promote all aspects of the SGC mandate within the province and as approved by the Board;
Coordinate research on public policy issues;
Prepare funding proposals, press releases, reviews of articles and correspondence;
Have overall administrative responsibility for the implementation of all SGC program activities and for maintaining compliance with programmatic, administrative, and fiscal requirements of grants and corporation affairs;
Organize and plan advocacy action, special events, meetings and conferences; and
Liaise with the community, volunteers, members, media, donors, government officials and other organizations.

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
Written and oral fluency in German and English
Post-secondary education with a minimum of three years of management experience or a suitable combination of education and experience;
Demonstrated ability in financial management, policy development and implementation and human resource management;
Demonstrated leadership in community and grassroots organizations including ability to lead a team and ability to meet program and organizational goals;
Strong communication (written, oral and listening) and conflict resolution skills;
Proven experience in government and foundation grant research, writing and reporting and a full range of fund development activities; and
Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
