Description

The Technical Specialist will be responsible for managing and maintaining the WCB Network environment.  The incumbent will work closely with development and technical teams providing direction and support, and have a strong customer focus combined with excellent technical and people skills. Duties and responsibilities include analyzing and resolve complex performance and operational problems; researching, evaluating and recommending new technologies related to the Network environment.

Qualifications include:

University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (Business Administration, Engineering) from an accredited University.  Supplemented with 3 years related experience as follows:

OR

Two year diploma/certificate in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited posted-secondary education institution. Supplemented with 5 years related experience as follows:

Demonstrated ability in the following knowledge and skills:

- MS-Windows 2000/XP experience
- MS-Windows 2000/2003 server experience
- Linux/AIX experience
- Email HTML gateways/Internet
- Active Directory experience
- Experience with Cisco enterprise equipment (switches, routers, firewall, etc.)
- Provide IP-based networking expertise to solve LAN issues and design network configurations
- Performance monitoring, tuning and maintenance of networks and servers
- Backup and recovery of networks and servers
- Security systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required
- Asset: MCSE, IVR experience

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SGEU collective bargaining agreement (currently $2,568.30 to $3,184.79 bi-weekly).
