Reporting to the Chief and Council, the Director of Operations will oversee all operations of the Band. The Director of Operations will ensure that all operations are conducted in a respectful and responsible way, ensuring that all decisions and actions meet the relevant legislation, policies and procedures. He/she is responsible for all financial management, programs and services created and implemented by the Band Council and all staff.
The Director of Operation's responsibility will be as follows but not limited to:
Ensure all financial management controls are in place to ensure sound financial/administrative management is practiced and the Management Action Plan is followed and reported on quarterly as per agreement
Ensure the Public Sector Accounting Standards are followed
Ensure all relevant legislation, policies and procedures are in place and followed for all programs and services
Ensure all program reporting is completed on time to avoid cash flow issues
Manage all financial operations including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll; completing all bank reconciliations and finance officer daily duties when absent
Ensure all financial/informative reports identified in the Financial Management Policy are complete and reviewed with Chief and Council monthly
Manage all purchasing, tendering and work contracts accordingly
Ensure the band has a yearly budget approved by Chief and Council, input into the ACCPAC system and followed
Manage all recruitment, evaluations, training and development processes for staff
Ensure proper communication channels are available to report to and inform the Kinistin Saulteaux Nation members
Any other responsibilities that are required to promote proper financial and administrative management of the first nation
