Description

The Human Resource (HR) Assistant performs a variety of technical and administrative duties relating to personnel functions and programs including, but not limited to, recruitment, benefits and pension administration, and employee relations.  The HR Assistant prepares various correspondence, updates and maintains staff information and training records in both electronic and paper form, runs reports as needed, and provides scheduling support.  The HR Assistant is actively involved in keeping staff informed of their benefit and pension status, training status, evaluation dates, and ongoing policy changes.  The HR Assistant also provides coverage in other areas of HR as needed.  The HR Assistant reports to the HR Manager of Employee Benefits and Wellness.

Candidates will have:
- A certificate/diploma in HR or Administration related area from a recognized post-secondary institution.  Other related areas could include office administration, computers, or secretarial programs.
- A minimum of three years experience in office administration and preferably including a minimum of one year HR experience.
- Expert level/working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs and database use.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, set priorities and adapt to multiple demands.
- Discretion in handing confidential matters and employee information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently, be reliable, and take personal responsibility for tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating respect and consideration to others.

Salary range is $40,102 to $45,385 depending on education and experience. This is a full-time term position. Term ends the end of September 2015 and may be extended if required.
