Description

Safe Communities Humboldt & Area, a community not-for-profit organization, invites applications for the position of Executive Director/Program Coordinator.  This is a permanent part-time contract position, averaging 20-25 hour per week with some room for flexibility and a minimal amount of work on evenings and weekends.  There is potential to increase work hours, depending on the needs and resources of the organization.  The priorities of the coordinator will also vary, depending on the projects undertaken at the time, and are subject to change.  The contractor is responsible for his or her own benefit (CPP, EI, taxes, etc.).

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Motivation, enthusiasm and a genuine interest in health, safety, and injury prevention.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language.
- The ability to support the mission of Safe Communities Humboldt & Area by planning, implementing, facilitating and evaluating a variety of injury prevention events and activities
- Program development skills, social marketing skills, experience with planning and coordinating special events, presentation skills, fundraising, and volunteer management experience.
- Perform general administrative duties such as completing correspondence (e-mails, mailing), scheduling, report writing, filing, maintaining records, managing memberships, receivables/payables & budget management, etc., as required.
- Attend all general and executive meetings, record accurate minutes, distribute minutes to members, and schedule/notify members of upcoming meetings and agenda.
- Act as communication channel/liaison for members, executive, sponsors, partners and media, etc.
- Support and assist Safe Communities Humboldt & Area to seek appropriate funding and pursue funding opportunities including fund development though grant writing and proposals, corporate sponsorship, community fundraising, special events, donations, etc.
- Other duties as required.
