Description

Reporting to the VP of Integrated Health Services, the Director of Acute Care has responsibility for nursing, admitting, and pharmacy at the Meadow Lake Hospital (32 beds and 121 staff). Eight positions report to the Director of Acute Care. The incumbent is a member of the regional team of Directors that meets bi-monthly with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

Key areas of accountability include the following:
Ensures the provision of a high quality continuum of care for clients through ongoing assessment and evaluation and in cooperation with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Ensures effective and efficient utilization of resources by all direct reports.
Supervises and administers acute care services, including human resource management (67 staff members), budget preparation, financial monitoring and reporting (operational budget of $5.7M).
Works closely with the Medical Leadership to ensure quality of care and to develop new programs.
Demonstrates leadership and accountability for a safe and supportive work culture.
Actively uses the principles of the Saskatchewan Quality Management System.
Maintains open communication and build teams and partnerships with other health care professionals, community agencies and residents.

Qualifications & Key Success Factors
Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Nursing Administration or Health Care Administration Certification would be an asset.
Current active practicing registration with the appropriate professional or licensing body.
Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a nurse within an acute care environment.
Experience in discharge referrals for ongoing reduction of risk factors is an asset.
Experience in nursing administration would be as asset.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and to the principles of quality improvement.
