FIRST NATIONS AND METIS EDUCATION CONSULTANT
This is an itinerant position based out of the division's central office in La Ronge to start August 26, 2015. The position requires traveling throughout the north to provide support to teachers in cross-cultural education, Cree and Dene programming, resource materials development and adaptation of programs. Duties include:
>Coordinate and support the Aboriginal Languages Program.
>Evaluate and edit Cree and Dene materials.
>Coordinate teacher in-services as required.
>Assist in implementing the First Nations and Metis Education School Division Operational Plan.
>Coordinate the Division?s First Nations and Metis Education Plan.
>Perform other activities that may be assigned by the Superintendent of Education.
The successful candidate will have:
>A Master?s of Education degree. A Bachelor's degree with considerable experience will be considered.
>Ability to work in a collegial environment with adjunct institutional partners.
>Fluency in the Dene language, written and spoken.
>Experience in teaching the Cree and/or the Dene language.
>Familiarity with the Standard Roman Orthography.
>Ability to work as a creative and self-motivated central office staff member.
>Familiarity with the language learning process in Curriculum Development.
