Description

Lac La Ronge Indian Band Public Works & Housing Department is now inviting applications for the following permanent full-time position:

CARPENTER APPRENTICE

The Carpenter Apprentice will work under a Journeyperson Carpenter and will be indentured to Trades North.  Apprentices work 10 months and will attend technical training for 2 months in Prince Albert.  As per LLRIB Personnel Policy, apprentices must sign an Apprenticeship Agreement.  Apprentices receive full pay when periodically relocating for in-class technical training.

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Work within a team to construct new housing on reserve
- Perform renovations/repairs to existing housing units on reserve
- Must be willing to periodically relocate to attend technical training
- Travel to outlying LLRIB communities as required  
- Perform other work related duties as assigned by Carpenter Supervisor

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum Math 10 and Science 10 (Chemistry 20, Physics 30, English and Math 30 are recommended)
- Grade 12, Adult 12 or GED is desirable, but not required
- Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Experience with confined spaces and/or heights is considered an asset
- First Aid, CPR and/or WHIMIS are also considered as assets
- Must be self-directed, highly motivated and possess a strong work ethic
- Must be willing to take direction from a supervisor
- Must be willing to work independently on various job sites
