Description

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the major responsibilities will be:

1. Providing services to children in care.
2. investigating reports of abuse, neglect and abandonment.
3. Place children in need of protection.
4. Monitor placements on a regular basis.
5. Providing a range of family support services.
6. Developing preventions and educational services.
7. Providing on-going counseling and support services to children and families.
8. Recruiting and training prospective foster parents.
9. Conducting in depth home studies.
10. Making recommendations regarding the approval and use of new foster home parents and assisting them in meeting the obligations to family services and the children/families that are placed in their care.
11. Conducting annual and periodic review of foster homes to evaluate their fostering services.
12. Ensure their family health, psychological, training and professional needs are met.
13. Assisting in coordinating emergency and ongoing foster placements within the service centre area.
14. Recruiting and licensing foster homes and maintain an adequate pool of foster care resources within the community.

Qualifications:

- Minimum Grade 12 or GED 12 with Certificate of Social Work or equivalent training with and/or experience in the Child & Family Services area or other related field.
- Maturity and Stability.
- Commitment to protecting children.
- Willingness to participate in training.
- Willingness to travel when required.
- Willingness to provide on-call coverage after regular office hours and weekends.
- Excellent written, oral communication and public speaking skills.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Must have a working telephone at home.
- Knowledge of the Cree culture, language, political and social objectives of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.
