Description

The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking qualified individuals to staff the permanent position of Settlement Support Worker in Schools Case Worker.

Job duties includes, but not limited;
Provide services in a supportive and culturally-sensitive and linguistically-appropriate manner
Assess the needs of immigrant families and the barriers to successful integration and provide appropriate referral;  
Support  newcomer parents to establish links with their children schools and get involved   in school and community activities;
In collaboration with schools creating opportunities and support for newcomer parents to participate in school activities, committees, councils and associations;
Participate in the school reception and orientation process for newcomer students and their families
Facilitate/deliver information sessions and workshops to school personnel with the aim of fostering understanding of the culture and the unique challenges of immigrant and refugee youth/children
Provide orientation sessions on programs and services available in the school and community
Help children adjust to school culture and focus on learning while providing their parents with information and resources on settlement and immigration issues;

Qualifications/Skill Requirements:
A Post-Secondary education or related work experience are position requirements. Additional requirements include excellent communication (oral and written), para-counseling, cross-cultural, leadership, motivational, and organizational skills. Ability to read, write and speak fluently in French would be an asset. The successful applicant will also require a criminal record check and clean child abuse registry record.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM.
