Under the general direction of the Special Needs Equipment Manager in Saskatoon, the successful candidate will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of program equipment and will assist with the operations of the Swift Current Special Needs Equipment depot. Duties include:
- Preparing manual wheelchairs for issue to clients by cleaning the equipment, changing upholstery, seat belts, tires, etc. to meet requisition specifications and ensuring that the wheelchair meets the quality and safety standards of the Special Needs Equipment program;
- Cleaning and performing repair and general maintenance to a variety of types of other equipment to prepare them for issue;
- Providing good customer service to clients requiring equipment or program information;
- Completing documentation pertaining to issued equipment (requisitions), work order forms, stock order sheets, shipping/receiving documents, etc;
- Monitoring and maintaining appropriate equipment and parts inventory levels;
- Communicating with Special Needs Equipment staff, health care professionals, clients and the general public;
- Maintaining, issuing and recovering a fleet of short-term loan wheelchairs; and,
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid Driver's Licence
Skills:
- Good mechanical aptitude - knowledge of basic mechanics and experience in using a variety of hand tools
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a multi task environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good aptitude for problem solving
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
