Description

DUTIES:
Reporting to a Financial Controller, the Intermediate Accounting Clerk will provide support for the accounting and administrative functions of Capital Assets and Land Development for the City. Key responsibilities include:
Research financial policies in other municipalities and summarize findings for the Financial Controller to analyze.
Assist with drafting policies relating to Capital Assets, Land Development and/or other financial policies.
Support the implementation of Asset Management Plans by educating staff members on proper policies and procedures, creating SOPs and ensuring standards are maintained.
Provide support in refining and maintaining the capital asset register, including data entry of new assets and disposals.
Review, analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and draft correcting journal entries as necessary.
Compile capital asset and lot sale documents for the year end audit.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Minimum of two years related experience with a post-secondary education in the area of Accounting or directly related field. Experience working with Fixed Assets or Engineering is an asset.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Professional and other internet/intranet software programs.
Strong ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in written correspondence to all levels of staff and all external stakeholders or partners.
Proven high standards of ethics and confidentiality.
Well organized, accurate and detail oriented with an ability to prioritize workflows and meet deadlines.
