Signed Exact English (SEE) Interpreter  Competition #S2-15/16

Great Plains College invites applications for a skilled Signed Exact English (SEE) interpreter to facilitate access to and full inclusion of people with disabilities into the college environment.
This is a term appointment that will commence as soon as possible and end at the conclusion of the program. Hours will vary in accordance with the program schedule; flexibility will be required.

Start Date:  as soon as possible
End Date:  May 6, 2016
Level of Appointment: up to 450 hours; averaging approximately 20 hours per week

Responsibilities:
Provides sign language (SEE) interpreting services to students and staff in the Welding Program.
Effectively deliver conceptually accurate academic material utilizing SEE in multiple settings, including classroom, welding shop, meetings and advising.

Salary:  $31.91 per hour

Qualifications include:
Preference for completion of a formal interpreter training program or equivalent.
Ability to use fluent SEE language skills to accurately interpret and convey educational content and concepts in the welding program.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and be flexible
Ability to work independently and cooperatively
Familiarity with the use of technology and assistive equipment to facilitate communication access, specifically Dragon Speak and cochlear implants.
Rudimentary knowledge of welding preferred
