Description

Working closely with customers to manage assigned capital projects from inception through to completion in accordance with the Facilities Management Division zone service delivery model.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Projects, this position works in a high-volume, dynamic environment of shifting priorities and continual deadlines. The incumbent is required to build and maintain positive relationships with a broad range of internal and external groups and individuals to ensure a collaborative and problem solving environment. Customer service is our primary goal with stewardship of the campus's physical assets strongly embedded within the services we provide. The work is high volume and complex, and critical decisions are required on a routine basis. A high level of concentration is required for continuous planning and for dealing with multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines determined by customers, regulatory agencies and internal requirements.  Professional judgment is required to understand customer needs, provide counsel, review own and others work and ensure compliance with university objectives and policies while meeting federal and provincial laws, codes, standards and regulations.  This position routinely addresses internal and external complexities impeding the delivery of service and must deal with emerging and unpredictable events in a sensitive and timely manner. Mental stress will be moderate to high depending on the complexity of assignments, area of involvement and related issues.  Incumbent works in an office setting with regular visits to construction sites. The consequence of decisions and the financial implications to the institution is high as error could result in significant financial loss or increased operational costs to the university.
