Northlands College is a leading employer in northern Saskatchewan for both instructional and non-instructional jobs and careers. We have campuses in various communities across the north and have built strong partnerships with agencies, institutions and industry, to provide well-rounded programs and courses. We are currently seeking a Director for our Mine School. This position is based out of our Air Ronge Campus, located next to the town of La Ronge, Saskatchewan.
Current program offerings include Mine Engineering Technician Diploma, Radiation and Environmental Monitoring Certificate and Underground Mining Certificate. We are looking towards offering a Chemical Technician program soon.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director is responsible for overseeing not only all mining sector related programming at Northlands College, but will also be responsible for the continued development of the Mine School itself. This will include developing partnerships with industry, developing partnerships with other training institutions, and seeking out sources of funding from all levels of government.
Included within the scope of the position is the responsibility for planning, organizing, and coordinating the implementation of the College?s program planning process. The Director of the Mine School is a member of the Senior Management Team and as such will help develop and implement the overall vision for Northlands College.
The ideal candidate would possess at minimum a Bachelors Degree, with a thorough understanding of the mining industry in Northern Saskatchewan. Experience at the management level is preferable, but not necessary. We will consider all combinations of relevant education and employment history. Most importantly, we will be looking for someone with the ability to turn a vision into reality, and with the drive and commitment to improve the overall education and economic condition of the people of northern Saskatchewan.
