Description

Youth For Christ is a mission organization dedicated to helping children and their communities, worldwide, reach their full potential by tackling causes of isolation and hopelessness. Motivated by our faith, we serve the youth in Saskatchewan - regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, or gender - as a demonstration of God's unconditional love for all people.

As our Food Services Coordinator for our group homes, you will support our youth and staff by providing food, nutritious meals and guidance. This is a missionary position that requires the willingness to partake in fundraising efforts with us. As a missions organization, Regina Youth For Christ requires all staff to be in agreement with their Statement of Faith.

Description:
-Planning and implementing cyclical menus for 3 group homes
-Creating budgets and monthly plans for meals
-Shopping and purchasing all supplies within budget
-Food preparation and cooking for 3 homes (25 people)
-Steward all food and kitchen supplies consistently and economically
-Collaborate effectively with group home staff members
-Build relationships with youth in the homes
-Periodically instruct youth regarding cooking skills

Skills Required:
-Catering or cooking experience for a minimum of 25 people
-Food Handling certification (Foodsafe Level 1)
-Ability to work in a fast paced environment with many tasks
-Ability to lift and carry grocery items on a regular basis
-Ability to work well with other team members
-Ability to communicate effectively with teenagers
-Criminal Records check

 - Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit
 - Sharpen kitchen knives
 - Remove kitchen garbage and trash
 - Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
 - Handle and store cleaning products
 - Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
 - Sweep and mop floors
