JOB SUMMARY
The Heavy-Duty Truck Technician will diagnoses and completes repairs and/or services on heavy-duty trucks/buses and transportation equipment to ensure customer satisfaction.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES
Prepares customer/company vehicles, conducts repairs/service as directed by the Foreman, and notifies Foreman of any additional repairs needed
Repair units by researching job, removing components, making adjustments, replacing or repairing parts, and reassembling unit
Completes mechanical, electrical, air systems, or general repairs/service (eg. transmissions, brakes, grease jobs, differential overhaul etc.)
Provide guidance to apprentice mechanics during repairs
Conducts road test to ensure quality work that meets government standards (i.e. safeties)
Complete Quick-Check to determine need for other possibly unrelated repairs
Determines heavy-duty truck/bus problems by visually inspecting, listening to truck and customer, road testing or using various diagnostic tools to determine repairs needed
Answers inquiries, identifies potential future problems, and recommends repair or replacement of parts, and reports findings to Service Counter.
Records serial numbers and documents required repairs on work order to document parts used, repairs completed, and problems or unusual situations encountered during repairs
Maintains Company tooling and equipment as well as general shop cleanliness to promote
a safe work environment
Provides internal customer service including the promotion of other services when appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
Red Seal Journeyman designation
Equipped with an adequate supply of hand tools
Safety Inspections Certificate would be considered an asset
Valid Class 1A Drivers license would be considered an asset
