The Consultant works under the supervision of the Summer Games Manager. This position will provide assistance and support in the development, planning and coordination of the 2017 Summer Games program/ sports package. Support and assistance consists of: obtaining adequate resources, fundraising and revenue generation, compiling 'best practices' for the Games program, policies and procedures, marketing and promotion of the Games. Candidate will also provide assistance to the games management committee in: coordination of volunteers, fundraising, accommodation, presentation, protocol, security, culture and traditions, logistics, food services and will develop sponsorship package for approval by Sports and Recreation Management Committee.
Education, Experience and Knowledge:
* Post-secondary education in related field Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Recreation Management, Management, Administration and/or combination of education and experience or training in a recreation/ sports field;
* Excellent interactive communication and interpersonal skills;
* Effective planning, organizing and monitoring skills and be willing to work flexible hours;
* Experience using Microsoft Office applications and other computer systems;
* Valid Driver's license and reliable form of transportation;
* Criminal Record Check and vulnerable sector check;
* Knowledge of First Nation culture and traditions.
Responsibilities:
* Sponsorship and promotion of the 2017 Summer Games;
* Review and/or revision of the 2017 Summer Games Sponsorship package;
* Delivery and follow-up, solicit sponsorship to aid in the games budget
* Promotion and advertising, website, newsletters, billboards, posters, public notification
* Assist in recruiting volunteers for the Summer Games and volunteer workshop;
* Plan and organize prep rallies and team (committee) meetings;
* Develop and monitor a communication process between athletes, volunteers, coaches, parents and encourage community participation.
