Description

Neurochemist, tenure-track position, Assistant Professor, in the Department of Medicine, Royal University Hospital, University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada starting Jan 1, 2016 or soon thereafter.
Longitudinal clinical observations in the Movement Disorders Clinic Saskatchewan (est. 1968) followed by autopsy studies from those cases are the major focus of the research program aligned with this faculty position, in close collaboration with neuropathology and scientists. Brain material (including tissue from >250 movement disorder cases) is available. Seminal work on Parkinsons disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, dystonia and essential tremor has been done by this Clinic. Future studies include etiology, pathophysiology, therapeutics, genetics and clinical/pathology/biochemical studies.
The successful candidate will develop a neurochemistry research program in collaboration with the Movement Disorders Clinic, be expected to teach undergrad, graduate students and residents, and be able to obtain research funding and publish.
Qualifications: PhD or MD/PhD with evidence of high quality post-secondary teaching, ability to establish an in-depth research program and be a team player. Experience working with human brain tissue preferred; adequate knowledge of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology to formulate questions and interpret the findings; preferred independent work record; command of the English language.
Salary as follows: Assistant Professor $90,796 - $109,108; Associate Professor $109,108  $127,420 and Professor $127,420  $148,784.
