Reporting to the Project Geologist, these positions are responsible for the following duties:
- Provide logistical and technical support for exploration/development programs by assisting the geologists in various tasks as directed by the Project Geologist and/or the District Geologist.
- Handling and labeling of core boxes as well as performing various core measurements such as hole depth, % of recovery, grain size and radiometry (systematic and detailed).
- Assist in core sampling programs (systematic and selective) and in acquiring digital photographic records of all drill core.
- Assist in other core studies such as core orientation and spectral analyses and assist in/or carrying out down hole probing data acquisition.
- Assist with probing data QA/QC and computer data entry into database.
- Assist in drill hole and/or grid positioning and surveying (GPS) and with Infrared Spectrometry measurements on cores (TerraSpec).
- Assist with control, maintenance, repairs of bore hole logging equipment on site.
- Assisting in the enforcement and monitoring of - Must be fully aware of his/her role and responsibilities as defined in the ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 Core Procedures and support files.
- Will comply with the health, safety, radiation protection standards in force at AREVA Resources Canada Inc. and will enforce these standards with Exploration employees as applicable.
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
- Preference will be given to qualified Resident of Saskatchewans North (RSN).
- Geological technologist or technician degree or diploma and/or willingness to learn.
- Experience working in exploration sites and logistically difficult areas is considered an asset.
- Good organization, as well as a task-oriented and rigorous approach.
- Good computer and communication skills.
- Valid drivers license.
- Team-player.
- Excellent social skills must be prepared and physically able to work in difficult and isolated conditions.
