*Please note: this is a temporary, full-time position for up to four (4) months with possibility of extension; may lead to permanent.
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Associate is responsible for:
1. Audit employee payroll master file on-line for each retail.
2. Prepare payroll journal entries for salary/benefit splits per retail.
3. Prepare and process payroll journal vouchers from information supplied by the retail.
4. Handle retail inquiries providing accurate information.
5. Balance remittances for Income Tax, CPP and EI.
6. Prepare and balance remittances for group insurance policies by the deadline dates.
7. Distribute all data as required.
8. Schedule and prepare special reports as required (e.g., records of employment, year end working papers, provincial insurance, etc.). Advise Superannuation and applicable insurance plans of terminations, transfer or leave of absence of employees.
9. Reconcile trust liabilities and clearing accounts as required.
10. Maintain department files as required.
11. Assist Senior Payroll Associate as required.
12. Other duties as assigned.
NOTE: The successful candidate will need to acquire knowledge of payroll regulations and processes.
The successful candidate will possess a certificate or diploma in accounting including the possession of classes: Introductory Accounting I & II and Intermediate Accounting I & II, plus a minimum of one year of related accounting or payroll experience.
