The incumbent is responsible for all critical tasks required to receive and fill customer orders for blood components and blood products. The incumbent performs these duties in accordance with Canadian Blood Services' Standard Operating Procedures, Centre Operating Procedures and manufacturer's instructions.
Required Skills:
-Completion of a secondary school program, with Math 30 and Science 30 courses, is required.
-Computer literacy.
-Previous related experience in a laboratory or similarly regulated environment, including knowledge of general laboratory policies and procedures, medical terminology and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
-Laboratory Assistant Certificate or combination of relevant work experience and education is an asset.
-Excellent interpersonal skills.
-Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written English.
-Fluency in French would be an asset.
-Ability to work within a team environment.
-Medically fit to perform the core duties.
-Ability to keyboard information with accuracy and speed.
-Ability to prioritize workload.
-Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
-Must be available to work variable shifts - days, evenings, nights and weekends.
There is a regular part-time position; 60 hrs biweekly based on a 0.8 FTE. Hours vary and are flexible as assigned. Shift start and end times may vary between 6:00am - 10:00pm. This position is required to be on call, on a rotational basis.
This position must meet the Trustworthiness and Reliability Verification requirements of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and is subject to criminal records/employment verification checks.
