Description

Position is based at the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant located 35 kms northeast of Moose Jaw.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations and Safety Manager will review and manage the performance and certification of senior, shift and relief operators.  The incumbent develops operating strategies and policies, setting schedules, oversees the implementation of procedures, assists in establishing budgets, is actively involved in budget control, determining and purchasing of required chemicals, and with the Maintenance Manager ensures the maintenance activities are coordinated with the operational requirements of the Plant. The incumbent plans, coordinates and supervises shutdowns, makes recommendations for Plant improvements and acts upon those recommendations.

The Operations and Safety Manager is also responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of services related to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S Committee) and the Plant's operations.

Applicants will possess a civil or water resources technologist diploma or an engineering degree from a provincially recognized institution with a minimum five years recent experience in a water treatment plant. Two years experience as an accredited Occupational Health & Safety professional or five years experience in a safety relation position would be an asset.
