Duties:
- Develops and implements home (residential) and day time programs and services for adults with varying abilities, providing opportunities for community connections, personal development, and recreation.
- Provides direct leadership and supervision of Coordinators and/or Support Workers, with an emphasis on motivating and leading staff through coaching and role-modeling to support individuals in achieving their goals.
- Provides initial response, followed by guidance and support to staff, in circumstances where participants require behavioural support intervention strategies.
- Uses a person-centered approach to maintain and grow a variety of unique community-based individual and/or group activities related to recreation, social and leisure, education, volunteerism, and transportation.
- Works collaboratively with Coordinators and/or Support Workers in the development and actualization of each participants person-centred plan.
- Manages staff recruitment, initial orientation of new staff, ongoing training of existing staff, and perfomance evaluations.
- Provides personal and/or attendant care (i.e., feeding, toileting, transferring, and dressing), as required.
Qualifications:
- Degree in related human services field and five years experience
- Class 4 Drivers License; CPR and First Aid; Transfer, Lift and Repositioning training.
- Knowledge of community opportunities and service providers.
- Demonstrated innovation and creativity in engaging participants in purposeful, meaningful activities that help to achieve their goals.
- Well-developed time management, problem-solving, communication, technology, and decision-making skills.
The final candidates are required to provide satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Record Checks.
