Description

Summary
Reporting directly to the General Superintendent, the Paving Foreman is responsible for the safe management and completion of hot mix asphalt paving projects. Leadership and guidance and the ability to mentor and train new crew members, good communication skills, good attitude towards a safety program, and a willingness to work some overtime would be good attributes to possess. This is a full time position with winter maintenance work during the off-season.

Responsibilities

    Manage and direct all aspects of the asphalt paving spread.
    Communication with the General Superintendent to discuss and plan production needs and requirements.
    Ensure adequate tonnage and trucking is ordered on a daily basis
    Maintain company policies and safety measures to ensure the safety of the crew members and the travelling public.
    Encourage learning by assisting and training new crew members.

Requirements/Experience

    3-5 Years of experience is preferred
    Thorough understanding of urban (municipal) paving practices.
    Knowledge of hot mix asphalt pavements, various types of mixes and their density and compaction requirements.
    The ability to read civil drawings and an understanding of how to pave to the grades laid out on these drawings.
    Ability to manage personnel
    Possess excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, a strong work ethic and have the ability to communicate effectively.

    Mechanical ability and the understanding of the importance of good equipment maintenance is important

    Possess a valid class 5 Drivers License
