Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) is seeking a full time Registered Dietitian to work as a core member of the Primary Care Program as a Community Dietitian. The Community Dietitian will work with a colleague dietitian to promote, protect and support nutritional health with MLFN members and staff through health promotion, education and primary and secondary prevention.
Duties:
- The Community Dietitian will be a member of the "Dietitian Team" and work closely with Meadow Lake First Nation members and staff to provide up to date and accurate nutrition education information / in service workshops and resources.
- To plan, deliver and evaluate community nutrition for members of the 9 MLFN's with a focus on prenatal health, diabetes and other chronic cisease prevention, school nutrition and food security.
- to provide dietary counselling and current clinical nutrition information and education for the MLFN's membership living on reserves.
- To ensure delivery of nutrition services and program delivery.
- Be expected to take a lead role in promoting nutrition related activities in all program areas and at as a resource for First Nation and MLTC staff.
- Carry out program planning, evaluation and program reporting as needed.
- To suppport and facilitate chronic disease program management, prevention and education including nutrition support, screening assessments and documentation.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and an approved Dietetic Internship or equivalent.
- Eligible for membership in the Saskatchewan Dietitians Association.
- Board Certified Diabetes Educator would be an asset.
-Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, personal and professional integrity.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively.
- Knowledge and understanding of MLTC and First Nation history, culture and languages.
- Able to understand / speak Cree and/or Dene is considered a valuable asset.
