Description

The Developmental Worker cares for children with diverse physical and mental needs. A Developmental Worker provides assistance with personal care needs and assists with programming to meet the growth and developmental needs of children who are medically fragile.
This position would cover sick and vacation day and or night shifts.

*Work to meet the growth and development of the children  
*Be engaged and at the same level as children during all activities. Giving hands on assistance where necessary while promoting appropriate and positive behavior, independence and self-confidence
*Implement a program that is inclusive of all children that promotes learning and fun.
*Transport children in a Hopes Home vehicle to community activities, school, and appointments.
*Participate in activities with the children and be engaged throughout while promoting learning and fun.
*Attend to personal care duties as required
*Perform general light cleaning duties such as laundry, cleaning floors, sterilizing toys etc.
*Cook meals and make lunches with the help of the children.
*Pick up and transport groceries weekly

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Completion of (at least) one of the following:
1.Education Assistant Program
2.Rehabilitation Worker Program
3.Recreational Therapist Program
4.Kinesiology Degree- Adaptive Physical Activity
5.Continuing Care Aids
Or possess relevant and applicable education with
special needs (minimum 1 year experience)
-Possess the ability to handle physically
demanding and challenging tasks
-Ability to work as a team player and
accountability in independent decision making
-Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with
different behavioral physical disorders
-Physical ability to maneuver equipment required
by children (lifts, wheelchairs, standing frames.
etc)
-Physical ability to perform and safely work with
objects or persons of varying sized
