Description

Duties and responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Community Relations & Events Coordinator, the Special Events Assistant will assist with the coordination of special events, most notably taking a lead role in the recruitment of participants and overall coordination of the Easter Seals Drop Zone event. This position will also be tasked with updating Social Media and Graphic Design duties; and with providing assistance with marketing and business development activities. This position may include some administrative support.
Duties include:
-    Recruitment of event participants, volunteers, sponsorship, prizing and logistics for the Easter Seals Drop Zone Event.
-    Participating in presentations to corporations, community groups, businesses and government agencies for the purpose of promoting special events.
-    Assist staff and volunteers with event preparations, set-up, maintenance and tear-down.
-    Assist with creation, preparation and distribution of marketing materials and information for various Council programs and initiatives.
-    Assist with development and maintenance of websites and social media outlets for special events and promotions.
-    Provide administrative support as required, including answering of phones.

Qualifications:
Education:
-    Grade 12 or equivalent.
-    Some post-secondary education in the area of business, voluntary sector management, fund raising, communications or marketing.
Experience:
-    Experience in customer service, marketing or administration.
Skills:
-    Excellent computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, data base and web-site applications and Adobe Creative Suite.
-    Excellent telephone, communication, time management and organizational skills.
-    Creative and innovative thinking.
