Job Description: The Payroll and Human Resources Assistant is accountable for all support services required by the Payroll and Human Resource Department in Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region.  These support services are provided in an efficient and professional manner, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

This position provides support services in Human Resources and Payroll.  Under the direction of the Director of Corporate Services, this position is responsible for updating staff lists and computer files and is responsible for the maintenance of employee personnel and payroll files. The incumbent works closely with other members of the Corporate Services team, employees, managers and members of the public.

The position is responsible for payroll data entry including providing assistance to managers regarding interpretation of SUN, HSAS and SGEU collective agreements and Out of Scope Terms and Conditions.

Requests for assistance from a number of individuals and prioritization of tasks is the major challenge of the position

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a Business College Certificate or Office Education Certificate and some related experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience and demonstrated knowledge/training
Considerable knowledge of office procedures and practices
Ability to perform required tasks with minimal supervision and ability to take initiative
Ability to work under sometimes high levels of stress to meet deadlines
Ability to adapt to change or unexpected developments
Ability to handle confidential Human Resources and Payroll matters
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees and managers
Strong organizational skills
Advanced computer skills and experience essential; specifically Mic
