Job Description: Camp Monahan is searching for an enthusiastic person to run the canoe program during the summer camping season. The canoe instructor is in charge of planning, organizing and running an effective canoe program for children aged 6 to 15. The canoe instructor is responsible for teaching campers basic canoe and water safety skills as well as planning fun and engaging activities in the water and on the beach. Prior to the camping season, you are responsible for submitting a program plan and ordering any required materials within the designated budget. During the camping season, the canoe instructor is responsible for maintaining the beachfront area of camp, supervising all beachfront activities and maintaining camper safety. Candidates are also required to participate in all other camp activities including campfire, meals, Chapel, group activities and staff meetings. A certificate in small craft safety, Pleasure Craft Operator and/or equivalent experience are required. Experience teaching or coaching children, lifeguarding and/or a First Aid/ CPR course are considered an asset. All applicants should also have a passion for children, nature and camp life.
