The North Central Community Association is looking for a Renew Project Assistant. The position will be responsible for assisting the Renew Project coordinator in: 1. Educating residents and property owners about property crimes and reporting process. 2. Engaging residents in taking pride in the physical environment of the neighborhood through volunteer events. 3. Providing service for victims of vandalism by removing or repairing damage by working with offenders and community volunteers.
Responsibilities
Conducting surveys of property owners and residents on selected North Central city blocks
Compiling survey data
Distributing promotional materials and flyers
Assisting planning of community work-bees to do minor yard work, clean up graffiti and garbage on selected North Central city blocks
Assisting Coordinator with various duties as needed
Qualifications
Full-Time Post-Secondary Student studying Social Work, Community Development, Justice Studies or related field.
Interest in community development and crime prevention
Strong organizational skills and experience working with Microsoft Office esp. Word and Excel
Be able to do physical labor including to safely lift 50 lbs., bending and kneeling
Experience with surveying and interviewing public
Be able to work well with businesses, artists, volunteers and community members.
Possess a valid driver?s license and reliable vehicle
Understanding of North Central neighborhood an asset
Can work as part of a team and independently when required
Employment Type: Temporary part-time Tuesday to Saturday with an average of 20 hours per week
Remuneration: $14.00/hour
Duration: June-August 31, 2016
