Job Description: Under the direction of the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, the First Responder Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of pre-hospital Basic Life Support within the communities of Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region. The First Responder Coordinator will assist and participate in mock codes to test plans; provide continuing education training related to pre-hospital First Responders. To meet these requirements, the FR Coordinator will work collaboratively with a variety of programs in coordination of emergency preparedness and emergency response in the region, along with external stakeholders

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Emergency Medical Technician/Primary Care Paramedic 2001 licensed in the Province of Saskatchewan, with a plan to upgrade to 2011 NOCP.
Certified instructor for the following courses:  Canadian Red Cross Certified First Responder, EMR, AED, First Aid and CPR, BTLS, WHMIS training programs
Experience:
2 years experience as an EMT
Experience as a trainer preferred.
Experience working in the north preferred.
Maintain licensure as an EMT/PCP 2011 and practice within the mandated scope of practice when deployed to provide EMT/PCP 2011 services in health centres or the hospital and during implementation of the First Responder Programs

Other:
Required to have a minimum valid class 4 drivers license.
Extensive knowledge of applicable Acts and Regulations.
