Duties and responsibilities:

Duties include:
- Assist with creation of opportunities for the Mental Health Drop-In Centre members to develop social connections, participate in meaningful leisure activities, develop new skills, and use talents in a safe and supportive environment.
- Provide direction and guidance in everyday schedules and activites within the Drop-In Centre
- Assist with development and facilitation of a variety of recreational and social programs and activities both on-site and in the community
- Work effectively within the team to assist and facilitate organized events
- Assist with the afterhours community based program as needed
- Interact with individuals to create meaningful relationships based on mutual interests
Qualifications:
Education:
- Student continuing in full-time secondary or post secondary education in Kinesiology, Education, Recreational Therapy, Social Work, Psychiatric Nursing or related disciplines
- Preference will be given to candidate with valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office programs
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and working vehicle
Experience:
- Experience working with individuals with varying abilities including mental health is preferred
- Excellent communication, engagement, and organizational skills
Skills:
- Innovation and creative thinking skills
- Effective time management and problem solving skills
- Ability to effectively lead individuals in a group or individual setting
