Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Present and facilitate workshops on road safety, drinking & driving, helmet safety, and car seat safety.
- Work in collaboration with existing community resources to develop proven strategies and best practice solutions that address the issues such as the RCMP Child Safety Seat Clinic.
- Develop and Coordinate Safety and Prevention initiatives in First Nations Schools in the area of pedestrian, bike and road safety.
- Safety and traffic safety in collaboration with Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) laws and enforcement guides will provide the content for the Education.
- Promote and develop a program in cooperation with SGI that is culturally sensitive to the specific needs of each MLFN Community.
- Assist in planning and facilitating a Safety Summit every other year to address behavioral traffic issues.
- Attend development training/seminars to enhance skills in the areas of defensive driving, pedestrian, bike, road, all-terrain vehicles, and vehicle safety.
- Complete required mid-year and year-end service reports and other duties as requested by the Director of Justice.

Qualifications:

- Grade 12 Diploma or G.E.D.; Experience working with youth is considered an asset.
- Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, personal/professional integrity, and responsibility.
- Possess strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills; and event coordinating skills.
- Excellent public speaking/presentation skills.
- Aware of FN governance systems; programs & services with respect to protocol, structures and procedures.
- Informed about Cree and Dene cultural values, customs and beliefs; able to speak Cree/Dene is an asset.
- Must have a valid driver's license and must be able to travel extensively.
