Prince Albert Grand Council is looking for friendly, motivated self-starters for a Community Tobacco Coordinator position. Applicant should be able to effectively communicate with First Nations Elders, Teacher, Youth, Leadership, and First Nations community at large. Position will require regular travel to select Prince Albert Grand Council Bands.
The tobacco Control Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate Tobacco Control project within PAGC communities.
Demonstrate leadership on commercial tobacco abstinence.
Use a community development approach to:
Work with the identified pilot communities to plan, develop and implement the 6 components of the Federal Tobacco Control Strategy.
Work with the communities to implement activities as per community demand/interest in the tobacco project activities in the non-pilot communities.
Qualifications & Experience:
Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in Public Health, Kinesiology, Health Studies or related field.
Have a strong understanding of the social determinants of health and health promotion theory.
Experience working with First Nations communities including leadership.
Experience with health promotion/tobacco initiatives/community education as asset.
