The MLTC Child and Family Services Department is seeking a full-time Child Enhancement Worker.
Duties
-Provide support and guidance for children, youth, and caregivers, work towards returning children & youth to custodial parent(s).
-Provide prevention mesures and seek supports to keep children in their homes with their parent(s).
-Provide support for families to ensure child safety and plan community programs that are aimed at prevention.
-Ensure all medical and educational needs met. Review development assessments on a regular basis.
-Provide children & youth with activities to enhance their social, mental, physical and spiritual needs.
-Ensure that the Child Assessment and Development Plans are current, and adheres to the guidelines/timeframes identified.
-Refer children/youth to the appropriate community resources, work with community agencies to achieve appropriate academic/remedial programs for children/youth.
-Participate in, and provide leadership/advocacy in the community planning process of services for children and families.
- Ensure accurate detailed child assessment information standards are maintained for all children.
-Ensure case management duties include ongoing assessments and documentation of the needs, abilities, and progress of children and youth in care.
Qualifications :
- Post-Secondary Certificate and/or Degree in Social Work; Youth Care Worker Diploma, or other relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge in human growth/development; child abuse/neglect indicators/affects.
- Able to apply a family centered case management model when assessing, developing, implementing, evaluating, and adjusting case plans.
- Excellent communication skills (Verbal/Written) and interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Computers
- Be familiar with and understand First Nation barriers/issues/culture
- Ability to speak Cree / Dene is considered a valuable asset.
