Description

Meridian Utility provides quality underground construction services to utility companies.    We specialize in a full range of construction and maintenance services for the Natural Gas Distribution industry. Working with us means a rewarding job in a diverse workplace where you are encouraged to grow through training and hands-on experience. Meridian is currently seeking a Horizontal Directional Driller to join our team  and be responsible for horizontal directional drilling on shallow underground live natural gas pipeline projects in urban areas. In addition, the driller will ensure the recordkeeping of plots and drill logs are accurate prior to drilling and upon completion of drilling. This position works closely with Foreman and other members of the construction crew to ensure that safe and efficient drilling procedures are followed.

Experience: The successful candidate will possess technical training from a recognized institution plus 2 years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the natural gas distribution industry. Experience operating Ditch Witch Directional Drills, Vermeer/Universal . On-site troubleshooting and repairs. Pulling all styles of fluted reamers from 6" to 14". Experience with pulling back Polyethylene, Steel pipe and Conduit. A valid Class 1 Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract is required. Effective verbal communication skills and a commitment to customer service excellence. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines  The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
