Description

The Director of Public Works will be responsible to research, coordinate, monitor and Plant of the Cowessess First Nation. The Director will ensure proper training and supervision of staff; prepare annual and project budgets for road maintenance and project requirements; maintain cost control, and facilitating contract maintenance work. The Director is responsible to maintain the inventory of materials, tools and equipment. The Director is responsible to initiate and implement Program/Project Policies and Procedures, developing effective work processes and solving operational problems; Must be team oriented and work closely with the Departmental Supervisors, Housing Coordinator, Human Resources and the Operations Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma/Degree in Business Administration or equivalency of 4-5 years of relevant working experience
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, schedule and supervise the work of personnel
Knowledge of financial reporting requirements, budgeting, and interpreting of financial statements
Knowledge of health & safety regulations
Analytical and interpretive skills, with the ability to make intelligent and efficient decisions
Knowledge and experience with computers & software programs
Working experience in operating heavy equipment would be an asset
Must of some overall knowledge and understanding of the maintenance of equipment
REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid driver's licence and a reliable mode of transportation
Must have a valid CPR and First Aid training or is registered to attend courses in CPR and First Aid
Must be willing to submit a Drug Screen and Criminal Record Check.
