Description

DUC is looking to hire an Agrologist to lead our partnership work with the Beef Industry in Western Canada.
Responsibilities:
building and maintaining partnerships with the beef industry
providing leadership within industry initiatives such as the Canadian Roundtable on Sustainable Beef
working effectively with producers, agri- business and partner agencies
supporting fund raising efforts to support DUCs work with the beef industry
participating in proactive team planning
providing technical expertise in the delivery and evaluation of DUCs habitat programs
developing agricultural-based extension activities
Requirements
A post-secondary degree in Agriculture, with a major in Rangeland Ecology, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science or related discipline. An Agriculture diploma may also be considered with suitable experience.
Preference will be given to those who possess a P. Ag designation and are members of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.  A willingness to obtain the designation and become a member will also be considered.
Understanding of conservation farming practices and agricultural production systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal and supervisory skills.
Knowledge of forages and grazing systems.
Understanding and appreciation of wildlife and their habitats would be an asset.
Understanding of wetland conservation issues, would be an asset.
Knowledge of beef production systems.
Experience in planning and project management.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong computer and analytical skills.
Familiarity with the non-profit and/or environmental conservation sectors would be considered an asset.
Must have a passion for conservation, the environment and the outdoors.
