Description

Our Client is currently looking for an Assistant Controller to work in its expanding Western Canada Hog Production Sector located in Humboldt, SK.  This position is poised for succession to the role of Controller within 3 years.
This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger balancing, financial reporting, variance analysis, yearend audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities as they relate to the entities that comprise the Western Canada Hog Production Sector.
Responsibilities:
Inventory and capital assets management
Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Work with the Controller to ensure accurate and timely year-end audit
Assist in implementing new systems and control procedures as well as integration of information flow with parent companys financial systems
Assist in the timely reporting and analysis of financial information
Support budget and forecasting activities
Oversee accurate and timely processing of transactions by finance team
Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
Assist in the development of efficiencies with emphasis on accuracy and enhancing the workflow of the department
Provide training to new and existing staff as needed

Education/experience:
Have or working towards a Professional Designation (CPA)
Experience 2-4 years in a similar position

Skills/competencies:
Analytical with problem solving skills
Organized with attention to detail
Highly motivated
Able to work independently but also as a part of the Finance team
Ability to meet tight deadlines
