Description

Reporting to the Technical Director, this position works closely with Directors, Designers, and Production Staff while directly overseeing all casual labor assigned to the properties shop. In fulfilling this positions core responsibilities, Globe Theatre expects the Head of Properties to:
Oversee all casual labour in properties;
Adhere to budgeting and scheduling guidelines;
Perform a costing analysis of the properties designs to determine their feasibility based on time, staffing, and budget requirements;
Track, code, and submit invoices, receipts, petty cash, and visa reconciliations for all purchases in a timely fashion
Work with Director and Designers to realize the designs;
Build, source, and/or acquire through borrowing/renting/purchasing all property elements required for Main Stage events and productions produced and presented by Globe Theatre;
Provide support for the Studio Technician/Production Assistant to ensure that all property elements for the Shumiatcher Sandbox Series are met;
Supervise and participate in the setup and strike of all property elements;
Ensure that properties are properly maintained and repaired during performance runs;
Source, acquire, and maintain all props-making equipment and materials;
Attend all staff and production meetings;
Adhere to all aspects of the Collective Agreement between Globe Theatre and I.A.T.S.E. Local 295.
Qualifications:
The individual in this position shall possess exceptional planning, project management, supervisory, and communication skills. The Head of Properties must ensure a high quality of workmanship for all properties appearing on stage, show an unwavering attention to detail, be able to work towards a deadline while observing budget constraints, and demonstrate sensitivity towards staff and artists. Technical skills specific to wood and metal working, sewing, faux-finishing, scenic painting, and upholstering are definite assets.
