Description

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Communications, and working under the leadership of the Lead Communications Consultant(s), the Communications Consultant, specializing in Media Relations, provides region-wide strategic communications advice and support to all levels of the organization.
The Communications Consultant, specializing in Media Relations, is responsible for implementing Region-wide communication policies, practices, procedures, and plans, and helping to promote the overall strategic direction of the organization through internal and external communications and marketing efforts; management of issues; management of the Region's reputation and brand; enhancement of media relations, government relations and community relations; development of corporate publications; and management of online and social media editorial content.
Experience:
Minimum of five years experience in public affairs, corporate communications or public relations in a large, complex, multi-stakeholder organization is essential.
Qualifications:
A degree in communication, business administration of journalism is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to plan, prioritize and oversee numerous concurrent projects effectively,Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of process and organizational skill with an eye for detail, Strong project management and organizational skills, Utilization of conflict resolution skills and decision making abilities
Demonstrated understanding of communication strategy, Understanding of methods for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communications activities, Ability to think and act quickly, creatively and strategically, Demonstrated ability to maintain focus on quality in all services, Intermediate computer skills and experience working with digital graphics and communications systems, Appreciation for the unique dynamics of a healthcare organization functioning in a political environment.
