The Moose Jaw Times-Herald, part of Star News Publishing Inc., is seeking an energetic, creative, and dedicated media professional to join our editorial team as Reporter/photographer.
Star News Publishing Inc. is a leading edge media publisher with a network of newspapers and websites that prints over 60 publications in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Our network includes newspapers and their associated websites includes the Moose Jaw Times-Herald, The Prince Albert Daily Herald, The White City Star Newspaper, Lumsden Waterfront Press Newspaper, Southwest Booster plus weekly publications across Saskatchewan and Alberta.
We are looking for a person with a degree or diploma in journalism or a related field or prior experience. We need someone who is capable of writing three to four stories every day (this is a daily publication) as well as the ability to take great photos to accompany their stories. The role involves a wide variety of hard and community news coverage in one of the largest and most vibrant communities in southern Saskatchewan.
Having your own photography equipment is a significant asset in being considered for this position.
The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, inquisitive, personable and able to concentrate in a busy work environment. He or she will require a current driver?s licence along with a reliable vehicle. A good working knowledge of the Internet and website backends is an asset. A solid knowledge and aptitude with various social media platforms such as Twitter is also an asset.
We are looking for someone with fresh ideas and a desire to establish himself or herself in this business.
