Description

Responsible for all aspects of addictions related programs & services, including but not limited to alcohol, drug & prescription drug addictions, inhalant abuse, gambling & other addictions.  This position coordinates and/or delivers prevention programming, assessment, intervention, treatment, follow-up & aftercare.
Qualifications & Job Skills:
Successful completion of a diploma, certificate or degree in addictions related program or equivalent work experience
Valid Driver's License
Knowledge of counseling skills and techniques
Trained, or willing to take training, in use of the SASSI Assessment Tool
Ability to facilitate groups
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Adhere to the George Gordon Personnel Policy, at all times.

Job Duties:
Organize awareness and educational workshops in the community, related to addictions, abuse, wellness incorporating medicine wheel concepts including coordinating culture camps etc.
Assess and plan to meet community needs in the areas of prevention, intervention, after-care and follow-up
Conduct initial screening assessment of all clients to determine areas(s) of addiction using the SASSI tool.
Make appropriate referrals to detox and treatment and provide Liaison services.
Coordinate medical assessments for clients entering into a treatment centre
Provide Counseling for individuals, youth, families and couples
Demonstrate professionalism and ensure confidentiality of client information
Provides follow-up and aftercare services to client following treatment and home visits.
Assesses crisis and identifies intervention, does follow up, process and procedures documented
Any other related duties, as required.
