POSITION MANDATE
Reporting to the Manager of Public Health, the Infection Control Advisor focuses primarily on the provision of comprehensive support in the area of infection control with particular focus on community health programs in collaboration with the Public Health Unit. The Infection Control Advisor provides leadership, innovation, and vision in related health areas including but not limited to: administration, clinical practice, education, and research, in order to support effective infection control in the Partners' organizations.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will be an innovative professional with thorough knowledge of community services and programs. The essential skills, knowledge and abilities required include the following:

- An undergraduate degree in a health related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, particularly in the area of infection control.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and/or experience with working in a First Nations health organization are desirable.
- Ability to apply a thorough knowledge of infection control practices to support the design, development and on-going improvement of related programs and services.
- Ability to provide advisory services and guidance in matters requiring interpretation of infection control practices and standards and assist with problem-solving.
- As required, conducts visits to health facilities to identify Infection Control deficiencies and suggest adequate measures to address them.
- Skilled in oral and written communication, including use of public relations and knowledge of avenues available for dissemination of information.
- Ability to lead discussions and publically addressing gatherings concerned with health.
- Ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
- Valid driver's license and travel as required.
