Description

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority is a dynamic and evolving healthcare agency that provides health program support to its four northern partners, Prince Albert Grand Council, Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Lac La Ronge Indian Band, and Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation.  


POSITION MANDATE
Reporting to the Manager of Community Services, the Nutritionist provides comprehensive support in the area of nutrition programming for the Partnership. The Nutritionist will support the development of evidence based and culturally appropriate nutrition initiatives. This includes nutrition initiatives at the population health promotion and primary, secondary and tertiary prevention levels. The nutritionist will be a registered dietitian who will support NITHA and Partner staff and other second level health staff to plan, implement and evaluate nutrition initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

- An undergraduate degree specializing in food and nutrition and completion of a supervised practical training (internship)
- Registered with the Saskatchewan Dietitians Association and a member of the Dietitians of Canada
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in community based nutrition programs, chronic disease management and public health nutrition.
- Experience working in a First Nations organization and/or ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
- Skilled in oral and written communication, including use of public relations and knowledge of avenues available for dissemination of information.
- Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of people, and can lead discussions and address public gatherings concerned with health. Knows how to undertake community development projects.
- Possess a valid driver's license and can travel as required.
