Description

David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit  for a Full-Time, experienced Database Administrator (DBA), who will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database.

The Role:

Architect, implement, administer, monitor, tune, backup, migrate, and support business databases
Writing queries, and optimizing stored procedures
Performance, integrity, and security of databases
Development of database utilities and reporting
Analysis of capacity and performance requirements for optimal efficiency
Restore and recover databases
Consistently deliver high quality solutions in a timely manner while adhering to best practices, and strong attention to detail
Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications
Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements, evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products

The Ideal Candidate:

Bachelors degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent
Has 3+ years of DBA experience
Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2012/2014)
Possesses significant knowledge of complex databases as well as the implications of different database designs
Strong working knowledge of the four basic SQL statements, indexes, joins, stored procedures, triggers, views, cursors, and performance tuning
Possesses the ability to write a single query in a multitude of ways to achieve the best possible performance
Experience in popular SQL data stores (including SQL Server, My SQL, PostGres), NoSQL data stores (such as MongoDB, Cassandra, and Redis), and AWS (RDS, DynamoDB, ElasiCache, and Redshift) would be an asset
